Do I need to be a runner to do this? Do I need to be fast?

The RaceTeam programme is designed to get all levels of runners over the finish line. For this reason we have three programmes that we will be using leading up to the race. There will be a Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced programme that the different levels can work towards. Each programme will cater for the needs of each level, and help them to achieve their best on race day.

When and where will the sessions be held?

There will be three training days every week leading up to the race. Monday and Wednesday mornings at 6:20am (which will be held at Hagley park), and then we have a Saturday session that starts at 7:30am. The Saturday session will be run at different locations (you will receive weekly emails telling where these runs with be with maps of the run). All the training sessions will be held in Christchurch.

How much base training should I do before I start with the group?

Beginning runner: You should aim to get yourself walking / running for 30-40 mins three times a week. This should be easy running at this stage.

Intermediate runner: To have your body conditioned for running up to an hour with some intervals included in there. Do four runs a week.

Advanced runner: To come into the course fresh drop down your distance and aim to get some recovery to prepare for the training ahead. Aim to be fit enough to do an uncomfortable 10km race. Do four to five runs a week covering different times and distances.

When does the course start?

The first seminar will be run on Tuesday the 27th of September and the first group training sessions will be on Wednesday the 28th of September. From there the group running sessions will run every Wednesday and Saturday up until race day.  The other seminars will be confirmed at a later date.

How do I pay for the course?
